Panathenaic Stadium is ancient Athens's largest building with a capacity for 60,000 spectators and was constructed back in 335 BC. The stadium was related with Olympic Games. 

The city took its name after Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom and daughter of Zeus. Athena was the protector of the city, so the temple of Parthenon on the Acropolis was dedicated to her.

Athens’ special spectacle for locals and visitors is the Changing of the Guard at Syntagma Square. The Soldiers of the Presidential Guard wearing traditional costumes stand in front of the Hellenic Parliament on Syntagma Square all year-round.

The capital of the country gathers a variety of events of various interests. The choice of Athens as the meeting place for the Conference on Environmental Science and Technology is not accidental. Τhe largest and oldest university institutions in the country are located there. Although the previous conferences took place in Greek Aegean Islands, the move to the capital of the country is currently coming as a result of the involvement of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens together with the University of the Aegean in CEST2021. Also, CEST2021 is held under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens.

CEST2021 will be an international event with a variety of environmental topics.
