Blanca Corona Bellostas
Blanca Corona Bellostas (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor in the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. She is an Industrial Design graduate from the University of Zaragoza and obtained her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Environmental Engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM).
Her main research interest and expertise are related with the sustainability and circularity assessments of products and services. She is an experienced researcher in the life cycle sustainability assessment of innovative technologies and products. She develops and applies assessment approaches that can accurately quantify all the benefits and drawbacks of potential circular strategies in order to make informed decisions about which strategies to prioritise, and how to improve them. She has more than seven years of experience in the sustainability assessment of innovative technologies and products in the context of the circular economy. She has participated as sustainability researcher in more than five international European projects and has co-authored more than 15 research articles in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. Currently, her research is focused on increasing the circularity of packaging products by the integration of consumer behavior into life cycle sustainability assessments. Besides her research activities, her responsibilities include the coordination of bachelor courses in sustainability assessment and the day-to-day supervision of Ph.D. students, junior researchers, and Master’s degree students.
