This thematic area covers all fields of ecology (autoecology (species ecology), population ecology, community ecology, ecosystem ecology, global ecology) and its practical applications in conservation biology, natural resource management (agroecology, forestry, agroforestry, fisheries), ecological engineering (e.g. phytoremediation), urban ecology, ecosystem management (e.g. wetland or forest management), and human ecology (socio-economic systems). This thematic area covers living organisms of all kinds (e.g. plant, animal, microorganism) in any habitat (e.g. terrestrial, marine, freshwater).
